8 signs that your to-do list is out of control!

May 14, 2009

  1. You need an excel file with multiple worksheets to manage the list.  The filter functions are coming in very useful.
  2. You have a list of people to chase for various things.  It is very long.
  3. You have about 30 things to do for 1 project alone and you are juggling multiple projects.
  4. You need to be tactical in planning when to do what and in what order to do them for maximum efficiency.
  5. You need to plan your to-do list across time zones and geographies.  Flying to SF is a good idea because you “gain” a work day.
  6. You actually think to yourself – if I do this now, then the people in the US can work on it while I’m sleeping.  And then you don’t sleep.
  7. You need to write *everything* down because there is no way you’ll be able to remember anything.  If it is not on the list, it doesn’t get done.  Even if it is on the list, it might not get done.
  8. You blog because you are in denial.
